At Macro, facilities management goes beyond maintaining buildings. It's about creating Everyday Excellence and leaving an Everlasting Impact on the communities we serve.

We are proud to share the latest milestones from our partnership with Surrey County Council (SCC), where we act as the lead integrator for soft FM and technical services. By prioritising transparency, safety, and social value, we are building a robust value chain that directly benefits Surrey residents.

Impact highlights:

  • Boosting the local economy: We have directed more than £11 million in spend within Surrey, creating a ripple effect of economic growth.
  • Employment and skills: Our partnership has supported more than 100 jobs for Surrey residents and provided 35 work placements as part of a holistic careers support offering. We deliver work experience and careers workshops to schools (including SEND), colleges, and job centres, so people at all stages of their journey to employment can benefit from tailored support.
  • Social value in action: Through volunteering and community engagement, our teams have contributed around 600 volunteering hours, impacting close to 900 people across the county.
  • Sustainability at the core: In collaboration with our partners, we are enhancing biodiversity and improving outdoor experiences across Surrey. Recent projects include litter picking, installation of bug hotels at High Ashurst Outdoor Education Centre, revamped community sites at Frimley Green Learning Centre, and picnic table upgrades at Norbury Park Sawmill.
  • Supporting local SMEs: We are committed to being a "market maker" in Surrey, supporting SMEs to start, grow, and thrive through local initiatives. Recently, we hosted an engagement event with Business Surrey and our supply chain partners to demystify working with local authorities and equip Surrey-based businesses with the knowledge and connections to win work and succeed. Attendees called it "useful," "insightful," and left having "made lots of connections with real potential."

The real social value Macro is delivering for Surrey County Council

Libby Ellis (MIWFM), Business Improvement Manager shares her experience on the relationship with Macro.

“Macro’s social value has improved lives, strengthened communities, and supports the Council’s mission that no one should be left behind. Macro hasn’t just met its commitments, it’s exceeded them. Surrey residents have been employed through the Facilities Management contract and opportunities, and support have been offered for people with disabilities, refugees, and who had been long-term unemployed which show a genuine commitment to inclusive employment. Real jobs, for real people, in local communities.”

“Macro have delivered social value across schools, charities, green spaces, and community groups in the county. From staff volunteering on biodiversity projects and local environmental initiatives to practical support for community and voluntary groups. Macro has engaged with Surrey schools and colleges, inspiring young people and raising awareness of the Facilities Management sector. They have also used Surrey-based SMEs, supporting jobs and strengthening the local economy.”

“Macro’s work with Surrey County Council is creating tangible social value in the county, and the work is only gaining momentum.”

Giorgia Baker, Operations Director says “We are exceptionally proud to be partnered with SCC on their FM contract and the outputs we have delivered on social value. We welcome all opportunities to engage with businesses and communities and the opportunities to work with council departments to support residents in the Surrey area into work. We have had some wonderful experiences helping premises teams in so many ways and are lucky to be part of the intrinsic teams leading these exceptional projects.”
