People spotlight: Bella Gyanti

When Bella Gyanti was named Macro’s Global Purpose Award winner, the recognition didn’t come from a panel or a leadership vote, it came directly from colleagues across the business.

Having first been recognised through the WaveMakers programme, Bella’s journey to the overall Purpose Award reflects something deeply embedded in Macro’s culture: that everyday excellence, strong relationships, and quiet consistency matter. In this interview, Bella shares what the award meant to her, how purpose shows up in her day-to-day work, and why trust, communication, and small actions often create the biggest impact.

How did it feel to hear your name announced as the Global Purpose Award winner, especially knowing the final vote came from colleagues across the business?

Sadly, I wasn’t able to join the call when it was announced because I was away, but as soon as the news broke, several colleagues reached out to me immediately. I was completely surprised and, at the same time, incredibly proud and grateful that my colleagues voted for me.

You were first recognised through the WaveMakers programme and then voted through to win the overall Purpose Award. What do you think people saw in your work or behaviour that resonated so widely?

For me, success is never about individual effort, it’s about building strong relationships and supporting each other so we can deliver the best outcomes as a team. I think that approach, combined with a willingness to go beyond what’s expected, resonated across the business.

Did being part of WaveMakers change how you show up day to day, or give you more confidence to lean into purpose-led action?

Yes definitely. It’s not just motivating for me; it inspires everyone to push a little harder and deliver more. Seeing that ripple effect across the business is amazing.

Macro’s purpose is Everyday Excellence. Outstanding Experiences. Everlasting Impact. What does that mean to you in your role?

It’s about consistently delivering high standards in everything I do and creating positive experiences for colleagues and clients.

Can you share a moment where you felt you were truly living that purpose, even in a small or everyday way?

During a big project, it felt like something new popped up every day that I’d never dealt with before. Instead of stressing, I (tried to) focus on finding solutions with the team. It reminded me that staying positive and working together turns challenges into wins.

Purpose often shows up in ways that aren’t written into a job description. What kinds of things do you consciously prioritise that you think made a difference?

For me, building relationships and trust is the essence of my role. I make it a priority to connect with colleagues, listen to their needs, and create an environment where people feel supported and valued. When trust is strong, collaboration becomes easier.

How do you balance doing “the day job” with creating a positive impact for colleagues, clients, or communities?

I focus on doing my job well, but I also make a point to be transparent and approachable. Sharing information honestly and helping colleagues solve problems might seem small, but it makes a big difference.

What does it say to you about Macro’s culture that employees voted for this award?

The fact that colleagues across the business took the time to vote says a lot about the trust and respect we have for each other.

What would you love to see more of across Macro when it comes to purpose and values in action?

I think celebrating small wins more often would inspire everyone to keep striving for excellence, it reminds us that everyday actions really do create lasting impact.

For colleagues who might not see themselves as “award winners,” what would you say to them?

I’d say every contribution matters, and purpose isn’t about titles or recognition, it’s about the impact you make every day. Often, the small actions like lending a hand to a colleague, finding solutions to challenges, or showing genuine care make the greatest impact.

What’s one simple thing anyone at Macro can do to live our purpose more intentionally?

Be open and communicate. Share information, listen, and be someone people can trust. Those simple things make teamwork so much easier.

If you had to sum up what this award means to you in one sentence, what would it be?

It means a lot because it shows that the effort I put into building trust and working with people every day really matters and that those small actions can make a big difference.
