Introducing Vicki

What's your role at Macro?

I lead the delivery of property, workplace and capital projects and programmes for our clients, helping them turn strategic objectives into practical, deliverable solutions. My role spans everything from estate strategy and business case development through to governance, programme leadership and project delivery.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day usually involves a mixture of client meetings, problem-solving, reviewing project performance and supporting our teams to remove barriers to delivery. One minute I might be discussing a property strategy with senior stakeholders, and the next I'm helping someone navigate a complex challenge. It’s unpredictable a lot which works well for me.

Tell us about a recent project or piece of work you’ve done that you are proud of

I like a deep dive into complex situations to understand what is really happening beneath the surface and what has happened so far. Whether it's reviewing programme performance, identifying barriers to delivery or helping clients navigate challenging circumstances, I enjoy bringing clarity to complexity and developing practical solutions. Helping a client or colleague move from uncertainty to a clear and achievable way forward is always something I'm proud of.

What do you enjoy most about working in facilities management?

I enjoy understanding what sits behind a challenge and helping clients find a way through it. Often the answer isn't a major intervention, but a tweak to a process, clearer communication, better decision making and getting everyone aligned behind a common goal. Bringing clarity to complexity and seeing a project or programme gain momentum and move forward is what I find most rewarding.

What’s the best thing about working for Macro?

Cheesy, but the people. Macro has a collaborative culture where expertise is valued, ideas are welcomed and everyone is focused on delivering the best outcomes for our clients. There's a genuine willingness to support each other, which makes the most difficult times easier to get through.

Words of advice for someone starting their career in facilities management

Be curious, ask questions and never stop learning. Technical knowledge is important, but people skills are what will really set you apart. Take the time to get to know the people around you, pick up the phone, ask questions and build relationships across teams, projects and organisations. You never know where those connections may lead. Most importantly, don't be afraid to get involved, most of the best learning happens outside your comfort zone.

A fun fact about you

I've been lucky enough to work with people from a huge variety of cultures across the world, which has given me a real appreciation for different perspectives and ways of thinking. Outside work, I enjoy creative projects, whether that's painting, making things, or redesigning a room in my house (much to the distress of my family).
