People Spotlight: Lisa Holmes
Meet Lisa Holmes, our FM Operations Director at Macro. Currently covering a Sector Director role within the retail sector, Lisa brings a passion for problem-solving and relationship-building to the fast-paced and unpredictable world of facilities management. Whether she's supporting clients through operational challenges, managing escalations, working closely with colleagues, or helping teams deliver solutions in a rapidly changing environment, Lisa enjoys the variety that every day brings.
We spoke to Lisa about the project she's most proud of, what makes Macro special, and why anyone starting a career in FM should "enjoy the ride" and never be afraid to ask questions.

What's your role at Macro?
I’m currently covering MAT leave as a Sector Director for the retail sector under Patricia Soria.
What does a typical day look like for you?
LOL, if only there was one! Typically, there are Teams calls (or face-to-face meetings) with clients, internal 121s, financial review meetings, catch ups with Patricia, problem solving with clients, buildings closing down due to HVAC or other issues and escalations.
Tell us about a recent project or piece of work you’ve done that you are proud of
Recently, but before I worked at Macro, the organisation I worked for wanted to change IT supplier and move to O365 from a range of old setups and IT kit that was probably many years old. That project sat with me and was during the first lockdown, so not only was the above on a tight turnaround, but we also had to factor in rotational furloughs across the UK. However, we did it, and everyone knew how to use the new MSOffice set up, so it was a huge success (although not without regular issues).
What do you enjoy most about working in facilities management?
Problem solving – we all aim for smooth running, but in reality that rarely happens. I love the challenge that comes with that and building relationships, sometimes at speed, to get things done for the client. The satisfaction of achieving that is brilliant.
Again, a rarity in FM, but when a client says thank you, it means much more.
What’s the best thing about working for Macro?
The people – I’m lucky to have inherited a brilliant team for a few months.
Words of advice for someone starting their career in facilities management
It’s a strange world, and you either love it or hate it. But there is so much to learn, so enjoy the ride, ask questions (however many times), and prioritise your downtime; otherwise, it can massively eat into that.
A fun fact about you
I used to have helicopter lessons and loved them!
