IFMA World Workplace 2026: Macro to Join Key Conversations Shaping the Future of Facilities Management

Macro is proud to be attending IFMA World Workplace 2026, taking place in Anaheim, California, from 18-20 November.

Bringing together facilities management professionals from across the world, the event will explore the trends, challenges and ideas shaping FM, workplace strategy and the wider built environment.

This year, we are pleased to announce that Amanda Muzzarelli, Regional Operations Director and Ross Abbate, Chief Executive Officer will be representing Macro at the event. They will contribute to two sessions focused on topics that are increasingly important to organisations worldwide: helping organisations prepare for successful Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) programmes while attracting the next generation of facilities management talent.

Outsourcing Won't Fix That: The IFM Readiness Test

Time: Friday 20th November 2026,9:20 AM to 10:10 AM · 50 min. (US/Pacific)

Speaker: Amanda Muzzarelli, Regional Operations Director

Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) can offer organisations greater consistency, efficiency and value, but outsourcing alone won’t solve underlying operational problems. In fact, organisations that move to IFM with poor data, unclear processes or conflicting objectives can find those challenges amplified once a supplier is appointed.

In her session, Amanda Muzzarelli will introduce a practical two-part readiness framework designed to help organisations prepare for a successful transition to an IFM model, focusing on data readiness and strategic clarity.

Ultimately, the session asks an important question: is your organisation truly ready for IFM?

The session builds on themes explored in Amanda's recent appearance on IFMA's Connected FM podcast with Wayne Whitzell, where they discussed Why Great FM Strategies Fail During Execution, the importance of aligning strategy with operational reality and how emerging technologies such as AI may reshape facilities management workflows in the future.

"Operational reality should not be an impediment to executing strategy, but it often is — because the strategy wasn't developed with operational reality in mind."

Show the Work: Making FM Visible to the Next Generation

Time: Friday 20th November 2026, 10:50 AM to 11:20 AM · 30 min. (US/Pacific)

Speaker: Ross Abbate and Amanda Muzzarelli (Macro), Juan Jose Servin Diaz de Leon (PWT), and Katerina Karasyova (Freespace by Workplace Fabric).

With an estimated 40% of experienced FM professionals approaching retirement and a limited pipeline of new talent entering the industry, attracting the next generation of FM professionals has become a growing priority. One of the biggest challenges facing the sector is awareness, with many young people simply not considering FM as a career path.

In this panel discussion, Ross and Amanda will explore how the industry can increase visibility, showcase the opportunities available within FM, and inspire future generations to consider a career in the sector. The session will examine how authentic storytelling, professional networks and social media can help raise awareness of the profession and connect with future talent.

Ross believes one of the industry's greatest opportunities lies in attracting and developing future talent:

"Today's young professionals are not only the future users of these spaces, they are the future designers, operators and innovators who will shape how they function. Bringing fresh perspectives into the industry will be critical to ensuring our built environments remain smart, sustainable, resilient and fit for the future."
