People Spotlight: Levente Marton
Who have been your strongest influences in life?
My biggest influences have been the leaders and colleagues I worked with at Unilever. Their positive behaviour, commitment to health and safety, and trust in people left a lasting impression on me - that period of my life shaped my entire career.
What led you to your current career path?
I began my career in maintenance and engineering but quickly realised that health and safety behaviours and culture were often overlooked. This realisation drove me to take a more active role in improving workplace safety.
Over time, I transitioned from engineering to health and safety, sometimes balancing both roles simultaneously. Now, after 12 years in the HSE field, I’ve joined Macro, following my belief that people should be respected, and that workplace safety should always be a priority.
What do you enjoy most about your current role at Macro?
I enjoy being part of a multicultural team where each colleague brings unique skills and perspectives. Working together to support Macro’s QHSEW strategy makes each day both challenging and rewarding.
After 22 years in the industrial sector on the client side, my current role offers a fresh perspective and an exciting challenge. With a variety of contracts, we must adapt to each client’s specific requirements and provide customised solutions - something I find both engaging and fulfilling.
How do you drive for a better way?
I continuously seek to learn and improve both my own knowledge and Macro’s processes. By identifying risks and enhancing safety measures, I strive to prevent incidents and maintain the company’s strong reputation.
What motivates you every day?
A workplace where every opinion is valued, opportunities for growth, continuous skill development, and a strong focus on employee well-being keep me motivated.
In my personal life, I prioritise health and fitness through exercise, running, and swimming. I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family and pets, taking in beautiful landscapes and horse riding.
What are the most important life lessons you’ve learned?
Through project management, I’ve learned key principles that guide my approach: eliminate assumptions, anticipate potential issues, learn from failures, and acknowledge successes. Applying these lessons has helped me contribute to the success of every project I’ve been part of.
