Macro's Giorgia Baker to speak at Facilities and Estates Management Live
Giorgia Baker, Operations Director at Macro, will join fellow facilities management professionals at Facilities and Estates Management Live on 21 October 2026 at the Business Design Centre, London.
Giorgia will take part in the keynote session, "It Isn't All Offices - FM happens everywhere", which will explore the differing priorities facing facilities managers across sectors and the opportunities for cross-sector learning and collaboration. The key question to be explored is 'What are the priorities for FMs working within different sectors and what can they learn from each other?'.

Bringing together facilities management leaders from a range of industries, the discussion will examine the unique challenges associated with managing environments such as healthcare facilities, educational campuses, public sector estates, retail destinations and heritage sites. The session will also explore how sharing knowledge and best practice across sectors can help improve operational performance, service delivery and user experience.
As Operations Director at Macro, Giorgia leads Macro's partnership with Surrey County Council, overseeing a diverse public sector property portfolio that supports the delivery of critical local services across the county. Having worked across healthcare, heritage, education, local government and justice environments, she brings valuable insight into the differing priorities faced by facilities managers across sectors.
Drawing on this experience, Giorgia believes that while facilities managers operate in very different settings, the foundations of successful facilities management remain consistent.
"One of the advantages of facilities management is that the fundamentals rarely change, regardless of whether you're managing a residential estate, hospital, university, office portfolio, retail centre, manufacturing facility or critical environment."
Giorgia Baker, Operations Director at Macro
She highlights the importance of understanding client needs and expectations, balancing financial and operational priorities, supporting long-term estate strategies and creating environments that enable organisations and communities to thrive.
The session will also explore the lessons facilities managers can learn from one another. For Giorgia, some of the profession's most transferable principles include moving from reactive to proactive management, using data to drive decision-making, building strategic supplier relationships and embedding sustainability into everyday operations.
Above all, she believes facilities management is ultimately about supporting people.
"The biggest lesson of all is that facilities management is fundamentally about people, not buildings."
Looking ahead to the event, Giorgia is particularly excited by the opportunity to exchange ideas with peers from across the industry.
"I am looking forward to sharing experience and knowledge and likewise taking away shared experience and knowledge from my peers in the industry."
Facilities and Estates Management Live takes place on the 21st of October 2026, with "It Isn't All Offices - FM happens everywhere" scheduled from 11:10am to 11:55am in the Keynote Theatre.
Giorgia will be joined by:
