WISH Awards

Creating a workplace where everyone can belong

The Inclusive Company Award shortlisting reflects the steps Macro has taken to embed Inclusion & Belonging (I&B) into its people strategy and everyday culture.

Central to this approach is Macro’s global Inclusion & Belonging Steering Committee, which brings together representation from the UK, Europe, Americas and MENA to ensure that different experiences and perspectives help shape initiatives across the business.

Throughout 2025, Macro delivered learning and awareness programmes covering areas including neurodiversity, LGBTQIA+ allyship, parental and caregiving support, Black History Month, generations at work and disability inclusion.

Macro also launched its “This is Me” campaign, providing colleagues with an opportunity to share their lived experiences and helping to encourage greater understanding, empathy and psychological safety across the organisation.

These initiatives are supported by a global I&B calendar, Macro’s annual Inclusion Report and employee survey measures that enable the organisation to understand progress and identify opportunities for further improvement.

Turning inclusion into measurable progress

Macro's approach focuses not only on delivering initiatives but also on understanding their impact.

During 2025, Inclusion & Belonging initiatives generated more than 4,000 employee interactions, with hundreds of colleagues participating in dedicated learning sessions and events.

Employee feedback has also shown positive progress. Macro’s “This is Me” employee survey score increased from 83.5% in 2025 to 85.5% in 2026, measuring whether colleagues feel they can be themselves at work and feel supported by their manager to do so.

The Inclusive Company Award shortlisting reflects the efforts of colleagues across Macro who continue to engage with initiatives, share experiences and help shape a more inclusive culture.

Championing mental health and wellbeing

Alongside the company shortlisting, Lynda Martin has been shortlisted for the Mental Health and Wellbeing Advocate Award, recognising her contribution to developing and strengthening Macro’s approach to colleague wellbeing.

Lynda Martin - Macro

Lynda has played a central role in developing Macro’s global Wellbeing Ambassador network, introducing clearer roles, stronger governance and improved communication between ambassadors across different regions.

She also developed Macro’s Wellbeing Hub, creating a single global platform where colleagues can access wellbeing guidance, events, resources and information about the Employee Assistance Programme.

Her work has included campaigns covering mental health, menopause and self-care, alongside wellbeing challenges and social activities designed to encourage participation, connection and open conversations about wellbeing.

Lynda has also worked with external specialists to provide additional support and development for Macro’s Wellbeing Ambassadors and line managers, including sessions focused on stress management and preventing burnout.

Embedding wellbeing into everyday working life

A key focus of Lynda's work has been ensuring wellbeing is integrated into everyday working practices rather than treated as a standalone initiative.

Her work has helped create a more structured and accessible approach to wellbeing, strengthening local support through the ambassador network while making resources easier for colleagues to find and use.

The impact is reflected in employee feedback, with 86% of employees reporting in Macro's latest survey that their manager cares about their health and wellbeing, an increase from 85% the previous year.

Beyond her work specifically focused on wellbeing, Lynda has contributed to wider health and safety improvements across Macro, including the global rollout of Display Screen Equipment assessments, manual handling campaigns, incident investigations and audit processes. Her collaborative and solutions-focused approach has helped connect people, processes and culture across the organisation.

A shared commitment to people

The two shortlistings underline the close relationship between inclusion, wellbeing and creating safe and supportive workplaces.

"To be shortlisted at the Women in Safety Awards is something we are incredibly proud of. It is a reflection of the progress we have made in creating an environment where people feel valued, supported and empowered to succeed, regardless of their background or career path"

Peter Tayar-Watson, QHSEW Director at Macro

At Macro, we recognise that diversity and inclusion are essential to building strong, high-performing teams. We are committed to fostering a culture where everyone has a voice, where different perspectives are welcomed, and where individuals are encouraged to develop and reach their full potential.

Peter Tayar-Watson, QHSEW Director at Macro adds:

"We have worked hard to create an environment built on trust, collaboration and psychological safety, where colleagues feel confident speaking up, sharing ideas and learning from one another. This not only strengthens our approach to health, safety and wellbeing but also helps drive innovation and continuous improvement across our business.

This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our people and the positive culture they help create every day. We remain committed to championing inclusion, supporting the development of women within the profession and creating opportunities for future generations to succeed in health and safety."

The Women in Safety Awards shortlistings provide an opportunity to celebrate the progress made across Macro while reinforcing the organisation's commitment to continuing to listen, learn and evolve.

From colleague-led networks and awareness programmes to wellbeing resources, leadership engagement and employee feedback, Macro continues to focus on creating an environment where inclusion and wellbeing are embedded into everyday working life.
