Driving digital transformation at Macro: Welcoming Anthony Wright

As Macro continues to evolve and deliver on its purpose of Everyday Excellence, Outstanding Experiences, and Everlasting Impact, we’re entering an exciting new chapter - one powered by technology, data, and innovation.

To lead this transformation, we’re thrilled to welcome Anthony Wright as our new Digital Transformation Director, a strategic appointment that will shape how Macro harnesses digital tools to enhance performance, strengthen partnerships, and empower our people across the globe.

With a wealth of experience driving digital change in blue-chip environments, Anthony brings a dynamic vision for how technology can simplify complexity, improve collaboration, and unlock new levels of service excellence for our clients. In this conversation, he shares what inspired him to join Macro, his vision for the future, and how digital transformation will help us deliver smarter, faster, and more meaningfully than ever before.

Welcome to Macro! What inspired you to join the business and lead its digital transformation journey?

It’s clear that Macro is in change mode, and that genuinely excites me. I wanted to join a business that puts technology transformation at the heart of its strategy. You can sense from everyone here that they’re eager to make things happen quickly. Coming from a blue-chip background that can often be less dynamic, I’m looking forward to driving impactful change at a progressive pace.

How do you see technology shaping the future of facilities management and the built environment?

It was famously said that every company is a technology company. While that might not be entirely true, it’s clear that technology will play a major role in the future of facilities management (FM). Smart FM is here to stay, and it will continue to evolve and improve. We’re seeing new AI-driven innovations introduced every day, and that’s incredibly exciting.

Do what’s right is a core value at Macro. How will digital innovation support responsible operations, data ethics, and sustainability?

Having the right digital platforms and tools will help us support our clients in achieving their sustainability goals, ensure compliance with global ethical data-handling standards, and improve safety for our operational teams and partners. Technology is a key enabler of doing what’s right, both transparently and consistently.

In what ways will digital tools help us create Outstanding Experiences for our clients and their end users?

There’s sometimes a perception that technology removes the human touch. In reality, it often does the opposite; it frees people to focus on what matters most. By automating the repetitive and simplifying the complex, technology allows our teams to deliver more personal, thoughtful, and outstanding client experiences.

What are your immediate priorities to ensure Everyday Excellence in how we work, collaborate, and serve clients?

My priority is to make everyone’s job easier. When implemented correctly, technology should do the heavy lifting behind the scenes. It should make everyday tasks simpler, slicker, and more accurate helping us collaborate seamlessly across regions and deliver consistent excellence on a global scale.

How will digital transformation drive Everlasting Impact, both within Macro and for the communities and environments we serve?

Digital transformation in FM isn’t just about speed or cost, it’s about making a lasting difference. For example, using SMART technology to manage and maintain buildings can deliver measurable environmental and health benefits. These improvements support communities not just today, but for generations to come.

What role does data play in enabling smarter, more connected, and more transparent client partnerships?

Data builds trust. When clients can see the same insights we do, decision-making becomes faster, more informed, and more collaborative. Data is more than facts and figures, it’s the foundation for strong partnerships, shared understanding, and continuous improvement.

What kind of digital-first culture do you want to nurture at Macro, and how will you bring our people along on this journey?

It’s important to create a fear-free culture around technology. First, removing the fear that technology will replace people, it won’t. It may reshape how we work, but people will always be at the heart of FM.

Second, removing the fear of failure. Technology will fail sometimes, and that’s okay. Learning from those moments makes us stronger. I want Macro to be a place where it’s safe to experiment, learn, and improve continuously.

And to bring people along the journey? By being both an evangelist and a realist. Not everyone looks to technology for solutions, but you win people over one meaningful improvement at a time.

Finally, what does success look like to you, both for Macro and for the wider FM industry’s digital future?

Success, for me, means creating a truly digital-first Macro, where we naturally look to technology to solve challenges and drive improvement. I’d love to look back and see a culture of continuous digital innovation that we built together, and that we did it with a smile.

What’s one piece of technology or data insight you’re most excited about bringing into Macro?

It may sound cliché, but AI! The AI landscape is evolving so rapidly that what’s possible today in FM is already impressive, but what’s coming next is going to be game-changing. I’m excited to see how we can responsibly harness AI to enhance decision-making, sustainability, and the employee experience.

What motivates you most about leading people through change and innovation?

Every company, team, or even family has its sceptics - people are hesitant to change. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing those same people come along for the journey. Knowing you helped shift that mindset - that’s special. That’s what motivates me.

Welcome, Anthony - we’re excited to see your vision come to life as we continue shaping the future of facilities management, together.
