Anthony Marroney

"I believe FM isn’t just about maintaining buildings; it’s about elevating the human experience at work. Every day is a chance to make someone’s workday safer, smoother, or more inspiring. That’s meaningful work."

With a career spanning law, financial services, and corporate real estate, Tony Marroney brings a multidimensional perspective to the facilities management space. Now leading Macro’s expansion across the Americas, Tony shares his vision for client-centric growth, team-building, and transformational leadership - revealing what makes Macro’s approach uniquely positioned to meet the evolving demands of the region.

What inspired you to join Macro at this stage in your career?

I was drawn to Macro because it’s a company that combines deep global experience with entrepreneurial energy. At this stage in my career, I was looking for an opportunity to help shape strategic direction, not just execute it. Macro’s reputation for operational excellence, coupled with its human-centric, flexible approach, provides the perfect platform to lead transformational growth in the Americas - something I feel deeply ready and motivated to deliver.

How does your background in law, financial services, and corporate real estate shape your approach to facilities management?

Those disciplines have instilled in me a strong foundation of risk management, fiscal accountability, and strategic negotiation. In law, I learned the importance of precision and compliance. Financial services taught me how to navigate complexity and drive performance under pressure. And in corporate real estate, I saw first-hand how facility operations impact workforce productivity, brand perception, and cost efficiency. Together, these experiences help me take a holistic view - balancing innovation with governance, and efficiency with empathy.

What motivates you every day?

Outside of work, I’m passionate about storytelling and advocacy, particularly around equity and justice. I spend time writing, mentoring, and supporting causes that promote LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion. I'm also a big fan of history, architecture, and cultural preservation - so when I travel, you'll often find me exploring ancient sites or antique markets.

What are your key priorities for expanding Macro’s presence in the Americas?
  • Client-centric growth: Deepening relationships with existing clients while pursuing new partnerships in high-opportunity sectors: tech, media, law, and life sciences.
  • Strategic talent: Building a leadership team that reflects both local market expertise and global Macro DNA.
  • Operational excellence: Driving consistency across our service delivery while adapting to the unique dynamics of North and South American markets.
  • Brand visibility: Positioning Macro as a thought leader in sustainable FM and workplace transformation across the Americas.
How does Macro stand out in the Americas?

Macro offers something rare in this space: the agility of a boutique with the backing of a global powerhouse. We’re not just delivering services - we’re solving problems with creativity, speed, and a personalised touch. Clients value our transparency, our data-driven insights, and our people-first philosophy. That’s a powerful differentiator in a region as diverse and competitive as the Americas.

Having been on the client side, how does that experience influence your strategy in delivering value to Macro’s clients?

I understand what it feels like to sit on the other side of the table - juggling competing internal stakeholders, watching budgets, and needing partners who listen more than they talk. That empathy shapes every engagement. I push our teams to co-create solutions with clients, to anticipate needs before they're voiced, and to measure our success by the client’s outcomes - not just KPIs.

What aspects of Macro’s services do you believe resonate most with clients in the Americas?

1. Customisation – We don’t do “off the shelf.” Our solutions flex to fit client culture, scale, and ambition.
2. Technology integration – Clients appreciate our tech-enabled but human-led service model.
3. Sustainability and wellness – Our leadership in ESG and people-focused design resonates especially with clients undergoing workplace evolution post-pandemic.

What qualities are you looking for as you build your team in the Americas?

I’m looking for people who are agile thinkers, strong communicators, and deeply accountable. I want those who care - about clients, about quality, and about their teams. I’m also committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the region. We need people who bring different perspectives, because that’s how we find better answers.

How do you plan to foster a culture that aligns with Macro’s values and supports growth?

Culture is built on daily behaviour's, not slogans. We’ll lead with transparency, celebrate wins, own our mistakes, and keep the focus on continuous learning. Macro’s values—integrity, excellence, and partnership - will be embedded through how we hire, how we lead, and how we reward.

What are your long-term goals for Macro in the Americas over the next 3-5 years?

My vision is to make Macro a go-to strategic FM partner across the Americas. That means:
- Doubling our regional footprint in terms of both revenue and client portfolio
- Building a sustainable talent pipeline
- Leading the market in ESG-aligned FM services
- Being recognised not just for what we deliver, but how we deliver it

How do you envision Macro’s role evolving in the facilities management industry in the region?

I see us moving from being a service provider to a strategic advisor - helping clients navigate the future of work, climate risk, smart buildings, and more. Macro is uniquely positioned to help organisations reimagine their real estate as an enabler of culture, innovation, and competitive advantage.
